Known for his unconventional approach to comics and illustration, Canadian Artist Patrick Kyle leads this seminar on developing and maintaining a sketchbook practice and how it can aid in developing a recognizable, personal style and unique approach to comics. The sketchbook is the cartoonist’s diary; a record of thoughts, doodles, prospective ideas and compositions – a vital practice for any prospective or professional comics creator. Patrick will share his own experiences and provide practical examples from his artistic journey. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the sketchbook’s role in the creative process, as well as valuable tips for developing their own personal style and transforming rough ideas into finalized works. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own physical sketchbook & at least one permanent mark making tool (Pens, Markers, Brushes etc. No erasable pencils please). No digital sketching for this seminar please.
